It’s become pretty clear to me now, over my years of running a successful ad agency, the biggest problem that most people have when operating a new online business is generating traffic. Especially when a company is young or has few resources, figuring out how to send traffic to a website to help drive sales is a major bottleneck.
Without a successful way to drive traffic, you have little opportunity to develop leads. Even if you do have traffic, converting them into customers is another level of challenges to overcome. Are you driving the right traffic? What methods do you use? Where is the traffic coming from? Do you have an offer that solves problems? There are many questions to be answered when looking to solve the traffic building equation.
In my personal opinion, having a proper traffic generating system to follow that works is crucial in the lifeline of your company. To make things more fun, every business is different. What works for one line of business may not work for another. Until you determine what works for you, trial and error may be the best route to travel.
Now I know you’re probably thinking, “Jeff, I can think of other big problems”. Well yes, there are always problems to solve in any business, but none are as important as driving traffic. Think of this scenario, if you grew up in the 80s like I did you’re probably familiar with the shopping mall. A dying dinosaur, but one that most people can still relate to. Without foot traffic in the mall, you have nothing more than a bunch of boxed rooms with stuff in it collecting dust. Therefore, it’s crucial to take actions that bring in people. The internet is the reason for the shopping mall’s slow death because it kills foot traffic. It’s just a matter of time before they become a thing of the past, thanks to evolving technology.
Fast forward to modern times. The above example is the main reason why it is crucial that entrepreneurs and small businesses must master the art of driving traffic online. You don’t want to become a modern dinosaur.
You can avoid this situation and I’m here to tell you that I’ve uncovered the process of how to start literally from scratch to create quality traffic for your niche. But it has to be done in a specific order to succeed.
You can’t just try something for a few weeks and throw in the towel because it doesn’t immediately work. You absolutely have to stick to a strategy and solve problems one by one, until you succeed.
I’ve watched it happen time and again with my marketing team. We tell a client what the plan is to achieve their goals. Doing so will take time. In order to succeed, we need to implement specific actions. The client will also have to participate too. Finally, you have to stay consistent. If a ball is dropped, you will lose momentum, which is never a good thing.
Consistency is the key to success in traffic, leads and conversions. If you don’t stay consistent, you won’t make progress.
